How best to describe 2020? It is the year of the pandemic, the year of face masks, hand sanitizers, but also the year of self-discovery.
Many people realized that their jobs are not important after all and that the jobs that society really relies on are some of the most under-payed and underappreciated of all of the jobs.
Waste collectors, shop assistants, delivery people, and of course nurses are just some of them and 2020 really put them in the spotlight. Apart from that and some clapping on the balconies, nothing is going to change for these professions of course.
They’ll still be going to work not knowing if they’ll have enough protection gear that day or if they’ll get enough shifts that week to put food on the table for their families.

“If everything didn’t happen the way it happened this year, then think about it, everything would just be the same. And there’s something very wrong with that thought. It wasn’t supposed to remain the same, going on and on in an endless hum drum motion, repeating all the old rhythms, living in all the old lies, playing back all the same voices in the mind. It needed to end. Something needed to be over. Something new needs to take its place.”
― C. JoyBell C.

“Time and again we hope for better leaders, but all too often those hopes are dashed. The reason, says Professor Keltner, is that power causes people to lose the kindness and modesty that got them elected, or they never possessed those sterling qualities in the first place. In a hierarchically organized society, the Machiavellis are one step ahead. They have the ultimate secret weapon to defeat their competition. They’re shameless.”

So the idea is that we’re smack in the middle of the idea of the past and the future. And 2020 represents our opportunity to really see clearly what we’ve chosen in the past and really apply that clearly to what we prefer in the future.”

“The world is being built up by greedy people wanting higher towers and then there’s a war or a hurricane or a tsunami or a virus or a financial collapse happening to put things in balance.
This has happened all through history and humankind survives and moves on.
This is not an exception: this is a rule;
and you are not granted to stay here, that is not your right. You were handed a gift of walking here for a little while, breathing the air, feeling things, but did you say thank you? Ever? Or just took for granted, carried life like a burden and now you’re being angry because suddenly things outside of your control are threatening your peace?
Why do you let your peace depend on things outside of your control in the first place?”

“My words for all of you who need to feel motivated. Let this year – 2020 – be a learning curve in our life’s trajectory. A year in which we reset the priorities of our life. Our health, family, and personal growth should always take the topmost position among our priorities. We must practice equality in thought, word, and action without being biased towards any community, religion, or skin color. We must follow the principles of co-existence in life and stay committed to them. Our lives must be a testament to continuous learning. And we must take utmost care of this planet – our mother earth – if we want future generations to stay here.
These words are especially meant for all students in the world. And for those students who have passed out or who are about to pass out in 2020.”
